Is Liberty Academy Right for Your Family?
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a family can make—and one of the most challenging. With so many factors to consider, from academics and philosophy to logistics and cost, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
At Liberty Academy, we believe that finding the right fit starts with asking the right questions. Every family is different, and what works well for one child may not be the best choice for another. That’s why we’ve put together a series of key considerations to help you thoughtfully evaluate whether our school aligns with your family’s needs, values, and goals.
As you read through the questions below, we invite you to reflect honestly on what matters most to you and your children. Our hope is that this guide will bring clarity, spark meaningful reflection, and help you determine whether Liberty Academy could be the right educational home for your family.
Are you looking for a school that encourages parent involvement?
Liberty Academy honors parents as the primary educators of their children. We understand the responsibility involved when parents entrust us with the educational formation of their children. Parents will be encouraged to play an active role in both the education of their children as well as the life of the school. Parents will be provided with information about what is being learned at school and how to engage with their children about it at home. Parents may serve as volunteers, committee members, even as board members.
Are you looking for an education that inspires wonder and encourages students to ask deep questions?
At Liberty Academy we believe that the natural wonder of a child is the entryway into true learning. We will seek to inspire wonder and curiosity when it isn’t immediate, because this enhances the learning experience and makes lessons more enjoyable and memorable. We also want students to ask deep questions and work together to understand truths that they can't yet grasp.
Do you want your children to learn phonics, grammar, math, and other fundamentals?
Liberty Academy emphasizes mastery of the fundamentals knowing that they are crucial to success at higher levels of learning. Children must be taught to read well, because reading is the key to learning as they get older. Children need to understand numbers, because the natural world is ordered by them. Children need to write and speak well, because those are primary means of human communication.
Do you want your children to develop skills that are often disregarded today?
Liberty Academy will teach spelling, cursive, how to tell time on an analog clock, memorizing math facts, and Latin. Yes, modern technology provides calculators and spell-check, but at Liberty Academy we believe individual knowledge and skill in these areas forms students who are more capable and confident by knowing these things for themselves.
We also believe they are more free. They are free to write well on a piece of paper without needing a device. They are free to do mental math calculations, often quicker than pulling out a calculator to do it for them. They are free to read old letters and documents written in cursive. They are free to learn modern languages more easily from their understanding of Latin as well as to read primary ancient texts without depending on translations.
Do you need a tuition-free cost option?
Liberty Academy is tuition-free. School-related costs will be limited to individual school supplies, bag lunches, and the occasional field trip.
How far are you willing to travel to get your child to school?
As a NH chartered public school, Liberty Academy is open to all NH residents. We are accepting K-4th grade students for the 2026-2027 school year on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will be located in Moultonborough, NH. There may be transportation available to Moultonborough students through the local school district; all other students will need to be transported to and from school. If you live in NH and can get them here, they are welcome.
Are you looking for a traditional school schedule?
Liberty Academy’s calendar and daily schedule will mirror that of the traditional public schools. Approximately 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Monday through Friday from September to June with typical holidays and vacations.
Are you looking for a low-tech educational experience?
Liberty Academy will utilize technology as a tool to enhance the classroom experience in a thoughtful and meaningful way. Technology will never replace the role of the teacher in the classroom. Students will engage with the curriculum primarily through physical books and other hands-on materials.
Does your child have learning challenges?
Liberty Academy is open to students with individualized education plans or other learning challenges. School leadership will discuss your child’s needs with you and work with you and your local school district to develop a plan for helping your child access the support they need.
